Greeting to everybody
Welcome from the organizer I am Ryuzo Shinomiya the organizer of this championship.
We have had freediving competitions for 10 years and now we are very happy to welcome you here, we take pride in having an international championship in Okinawa Chura※-waters.
This sport originated in Europe and till now the free-diving championships have been mostly held in Western countries.
This time, it is not only the first competitions in Japan but also in Asia. It is a chance for us to appeal to the world the beauty of the sea in Okinawa.
About a hundred top athletes from 20 different countries are all meeting here in Okinawa, and will show us their skill and abilities, as well as their wonderful diving and team work.
We believe that the message of this diving competition; " One Ocean~ Umiwa Hitotsu " will, here in Chura sea, make the heart of all the athletes from all over the world be one.

※”Chura” means "beautiful" in the traditional language spoken in Okinawa.
